‘To God be the glory’

Angel Star has a rather fascinating history if I do say so myself, and I owe all of it to the Lord Jesus Christ! I am a born again Christian, and attend Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle. In the summer of 2003 a missionary outreach was underway from our church to build a children’s school in Ethiopia. I felt I wanted to help and whilst praying to seek out how to raise money, God led me to sell my own wedding dress. I had got married the summer previous and having four older sisters and a niece, I ended up spending a lot on a full set of maids and erm.. not to mention my own clinker of a dress!

I set to work and to my surprise I found no one local sold day-old bridal dresses. So as one thing led to another, I hired a small outlet in a local business park and advertised for potential sellers and buyers for worn dresses. Things grew well and I started to source and buy in brand new, yet affordable goods in order to accommodate my customer’s needs. This side of business grew so much I decided to open full-time in Main Street, Carrickfergus. On Valentines Day 2004 we opened with a bang, retailing both new and worn to cater for brides of all budgets! As things moved on I realised the best way forward was to offer a range of completely new dresses with guaranteed 100% satisfaction – brides need to be assured of perfection and I learned the best way to get this is from the new! So I phased out the old completely and replaced it with fantastic hand-picked range of bridal and evening wear .. and wow did things grow from there! Angel Star has simply gone from strength to strength.

As one bridal season passed another we now offer what is undoubtedly Northern Ireland's most fabulous, freshest and exciting range of bridal wear! Chosen from only the best collections and designers from around the world Angel Star prides itself in offering a full selection of gowns from the funky to the classy, the romantic to the bling.. not to mention the sexy and sassy! Seeing is believing! Our prices range from the affordable, to middle of the range to expensive to ensure all tastes and budgets are met.

The Carrickfergus store expanded over double floor space to offer a fully fledged evening wear department and cater for our ever growing range of services. We now host an amazing collection of individually made tiaras, feather fascinators, shawls, veils and lots more! Last year saw the creation of Angel Star Pathos, an expansion headed up by shop manageress Kymberlei Fairfowl! Kym brings a fab range of ‘Diamon-T’ personalised tee-shirts and bikinis and the fabulous Pink and Paradox shoe and handbag collections. 50% of the profit of these sales goes to an outreach for the Whitewell Hospice for Sick Children in Kenya.  

Wow.. the list goes on! What can I say, but to God be the Glory – it’s only through Him that all this has been made possible! I thank Him for his guidance and providence!
